Philip Tunstall MCIAT ACIOB

"I started work at C. Frank Timothy Associates, as it was then known, in 1972 whilst studying for my ONC/HNC at North Gloucestershire College of Technology, later moving on to Brunel College in Bristol.

Frank Timothy was already a well respected practice and the experience gained in those early years gave me solid foundations to progress my career.

Having been at Frank Timothy for forty six years, as you can imagine I have been involved in a multitude of projects...from new build schools, sports facilities and residential properties to alteration and refurbishment of existing buildings.

I became a partner in the mid 1980s and led the transition to the current Limited Company in 1995, being one of the founding Directors.

Whilst Frank Timothy Associates have always been keen to embrace new technologies and adopted computerisation in the very early 1980s, knowledge of the traditional skills and techniques have not been forgotten and are in many cases are more relevant than ever given my work with historic buildings.

Just some of the many notable projects in this specialist field are; over thirty projects completed at The British Museum, six years spent managing conservation work at St James Palace, restoration at Berkeley Castle, stone cleaning at the Victoria & Albert Museum as well as commissions at The Science Museum, Natural History Museum and Canterbury Cathedral.

To balance this work, I continue to enjoy high quality new building projects. In association with a local Architects practice I have recently been lucky enough to be involved in prestigious schemes in the leisure sector, including the new Princess Royal grandstand at Cheltenham Racecourse which was constructed as part of a £45m redevelopment at the site.

Frank Timothy Associates is now poised to enter it's seventh decade in business and with the prospect of an exciting future, I remain proud to have been a part of it.”
